[Project Look Book] Thursday, March 31, 2011

My God, it's only Thursday! Why does it seem like weekend's taking forever to come? And so the face... I've had this shirt for a long time now. A cheap one, actually, that I got from one of them racks of brand-less brands at SM Department Store. Paired it with pants from Havana & Co. at Prima Linea. Looking back, I feel my looks this week have been pretty much uninspired. Been so tired every night that I don't think much anymore about which clothes to pick and iron. As long as they're fairly easy to iron, then it's good enough. So I have to make amends tomorrow, Friday. And there's a glimmer of promise to that declaration hidden underneath my pants today: It's the second of three Billy Berck pairs My Bibe got for me from Urban Outfitters! I wore the first one in January ( see here ), and let's just see when the last pair will debut. Weekend, I want you now...

Wednesday. Coding. Overslept. Still made it in time, though. Wearing an Anthony Nocom shirt today that I realized I've had for a long time but never got to wear. He's one of SM's in-house designers. His line also doesn't cost much, so yay! Pants (Topman); shoes (Frank at Traffic).

After yesterday's cheerful and sunny vibe (with pink), it's a complete one-eighty today with black and gray. Knit pullover (Zara); pants (Topman); shoes (Zara). I'm tired.

Looking at this photo it doesn't seem like I had an awful morning. Must be the pink. It really must be. Anyway, I usually pair this shirt with black pants but today I opted for light gray. Shirt and belt (Merger); tie (SM); pants (Topman).

Opted for a relaxed fit today. No slim-fitting anything. Got these pants from People R People a long time ago. It's not the ideal fit for me but it didn't and doesn't matter. Never bothered to shorten them either. How relaxed is the fit? Here goes when I'm standing:

A bit casual today, basically because of the shoes. They're not really office-appropriate but I'm defiant simply because I wanted to wear them already. It's been more than two weeks now since I bought them so I thought now is the time. So what would go well with gray? I thought brown would be nice. So brown it is. Shirt (Celio); tie (SM); pants (Topman); shoes (Zara).

Inferiority complex

Image
A few weeks ago I received a comment on one of my Daily Doodle posts inviting me to join their Daily Doodle - 2011 Taro Gomi group on flickr . I was actually surprised someone else with the Taro Gomi calendar found me - particularly someone else who not just had the calendar but who also doodled on it everyday, took a photo of it, and posted it somewhere. Curious, I checked them out and I was, like, wow! I was simply awestruck with their doodles. Some were already more than doodles but still, wow! A sense of shame and insecurity suddenly crept within me. Should I really accept the invitation? To get an idea of where I'm coming from, here goes:

Some sheen to go with black today. It's the metallic pants that I'm referring to for sheen here. Part of a suit actually from Anthony Nocom at SM. The shirt's from Tyler.

Experimented with colored pencils here but I didn't enjoy it. I'll try something else tomorrow. Before... And after...

Lotsa brown today! Brown shirt with small orange checks, brown pants in a much lighter shade, brown tie in a pattern of different shades of brown, brown leather belt, and brown shoes. Of course I also carried a brown bag. Whew! Shirt (Merger); pants (Dansen at SM); shoes (Zara); belt and tie (both from SM). Ha! Ha! My frames are also brown (Kenneth Cole).

As foretold, the toxicity from last week carries on. A bit casual for a Monday but I was going out of the office so I was just preparing myself for the hassles of finding a cab and contending with traffic, humidity and everything else thrown in. This is one of my favorite short-sleeved shirts. Got it from G2000 in Hong Kong last year. I think it's the blue that made me fall in love with it in the first place. Pants (Sahara at SM); belt (Merger); shoes (Zara); watch (Aldo).

Laugh trip: Eugene Domingo

Image
Was just surfing through YouTube for videos of first, Adam Lambert, then David Cook. And then I came across this really funny clip of local comedienne Eugene Domingo interviewing Davids Cook and Archuleta for a segment on her TV show Cool Center (is it still airing?). This was in 2009 when the two Davids had a back-to-back concert in Manila. Enjoy! Way to go, Eugene! I'm a fan. And I'm still laughing.

Toxic week. But at least it's over now although the toxicity prevails and will be continued on Monday. Anyway, I wore tattered jeans today. We're not supposed to in the office but I've debated it in my mind long enough. My main argument is this:

Just the way you are

Saw this funny thing last Saturday: Move closer... It's Bubba Gump's mascot! Sorry but he wasn't cute at all to me. While they've managed to translate the cuteness of that shrimp in their logo into small stuffed toys, this super-sized version was a dismal attempt. Bubba is supposed to be famous for their shrimp concoctions but My Bibe and I actually go there for something else:

'Twas a sunny day today. I'm feeling it by the window here. Times when the sky's clear and sunny like this, I wish I were on the beach. Knit pullover (thrifted); slim-cut pants (Topman); shoes (Frank at Traffic).

I look sleepy in this pic. But I really was when I had this taken this morning. It's Wednesday so I had to get up earlier than usual to beat the 7am time before I get apprehended for a traffic violation. Based on our car's plate number, Minitron (what we nicknamed our car) is banned from the streets every Wednesday from 7am to 7pm. (Yawn!) Today I'm wearing a knit pullover from Paul Smith, gray pinstripe pants that I got from Bangkok, metallic brown shoes from Pedro, and of course... ...my new Jeremy Scott for Swatch wrist watch, which I fondly call my new "wall clock ." True enough, my officemate, Leslie, called it a wall clock when she noticed it. Thanks to My Bibe of course.

Today I was able to put on a jacket. Oops! That photo was actually of me taking off the jacket. But anyway, it's one of my favorite pieces and it's got a story behind it. I got it from Zara a couple of seasons ago. I first saw it at their store in Greenbelt 5 but it was no longer available in my size. I tried to convince myself that one size bigger was not so bad. But it was.

Limited tribute

Image
I think it was last week (or the week before that?) that Gay gave me a stick of Starbucks Via Tribute Blend for me to try before buying. How nice of her, right? The coffee giant released this limited edition Via to celebrate their 40th anniversary. So how was it? Unlike my experience with other Stateside variants , I loved this one. It's a blend of four different beans and has some dark cherry notes. True enough, I can taste the cherries. So I bought two boxes. I don't know until when this Via's going to be in stores, considering their Christmas blend disappeared instantaneously. I'm contemplating on stocking up. But wait, I also need to consume my Colombia stash before they expire on April 16, a consequence of my hoarding .

All black today. Still thinking of what happened to Japan last Friday and praying at the same time that they be spared from a nuclear disaster. I picked the shirt first then every other black piece followed except for the bow tie, which is purple. I kind of love the detailing on the shirt. It's Anthony Nocom from SM. Pants (Sahara at SM); shoes (Frank at Traffic); bow tie (Tieline at Merger).

My summer-ready hair

Image
After mulling over what to do with my hair , this is the result: As planned, it wasn't that severe. Just shorter on the sides and a little trimming on the bangs to allow for styling - and that's it. I couldn't get an appointment with Mr. Shin of Beautybrick so I settled for my other stylist, Ricky at Fix Greenbelt. After seeing the result, I think I'm confident with something even shorter on the sides and probably a V-shape on the back. But that's until my next haircut. It's Monday again. (Sigh!)
