[Lookbook 11.28.2014] P is for...

Image
Just before we were leaving the office tonight I had a couple of shots of me taken at the parking area. Maybe it was all the yellow on that floor that enticed me. But whatever, today's outfit was simple and very relaxed, today being a Friday. It's just jeans, a sweatshirt, and some kicks. Even if it's not the dominant color, it's the green that's tying everything together.

Make your wishes come true with East Dane's 'The BIG Event'

Image
Identities have been concealed and wish lists have been submitted. Now everyone at the office has already drawn his/her "baby" for our department Kris Kringle. How I wish my wish list looked a little something like this: Left to right: New York City map throw from Faribault Woolen Mills . Rollbahn A5 spiral notebook from Delfonics . Shine activity monitor (wearable tech: fitness and sleep monitor) from Misfit . Sentry chrono watch from Nixon . Black stone stainless steel insulated water bottle from S'well . Back flash refurbished Polaroid 600-Type camera kit, Instant Lab (which transforms digital images to analog Poloaroid pictures in seconds), and black and white instant file, all from Impossible . Leather strap watch from TID Watches . Oscar necktie from Alexander Olch . Bakelite hanging pendant lamp from East Dane Gifts . Well, with a very limited amount set as the minimum, it could be--no, it is--very, VERY far from the truth. But then maybe I

[Lookbook 11.19.2014] Plaid-tie

Image
Forgive me for the corny title; I was suddenly thinking of pad thai . Anyway, after ogling over some really nice neckties and bow ties yesterday, I promised I would wear a tie today. Now that I've made good with that promise, I hope I could sustain this thing and not slip back into my uniform of pullovers, which I often refer to as " tamad (lazy) outfits."

Tie it up

Image
While I made good by wearing suit jackets the entire 5 days last week, I must admit that I haven't worn a tie in a quite a long time. The good thing is I miss wearing them, much so when I saw these handsome pieces over at East Dane : Clockwise from top left: Wool woven tie in navy by Drake's . Slub silk necktie in acqua grass by Marwood . Milan tie in black and cream combo by CAMO . Cashmere woven necktie in navy and ecru combo by Drake's. I'm really digging these woven beauties. Because they're woven, I kind of appreciate the added amount of detail involved here. They don't look too restrictive and affords the wearer a more relaxed vibe.

Redefining street wear

Image
Okay, enough with all my Halloween reminiscing. It's time to move on from my Voldemort Halloween costume , Gomez Addams look and all that, and get back to some real-world fashion. And how best to get real than with street wear! Sesam felt hat and sweatshirt by Études Studio . Shirt by Lbt-Lbt . Jacket by Alexander Wang . Richard Pants by Robert Geller . Shoes by MSGM .

Custaroon Poppers: Delectable bite-size goodies

Image
Custaroon Poppers. Going through my phone gallery I was reminded of--and am now craving for--these Custaroon Poppers from Gigi Gaerlan Custaroonery we had almost 2 months ago now. Custaroon poppers are bite-size custaroon balls coated with chocolate powder. A play on custard and macaroon, a custaroon is just that: a smooth and creamy flan topped with a chewy macaroon layer. Sounds yummy enough? You bet. Besides, it's always sheer joy when you get to discover a new food item every now and then, just like when I first got acquainted with kashi maki .

[Lookbook 11.10.2014] Double-breasted casual

Blurred lines. It's been a busy day and I'm looking forward to even busier days ahead. But just right before we were about to leave the building, inspired by all the chaos that I saw at the parking area and envious of My Bibe taking selfies, I thought of an unplanned smartphone "shoot" for an outfit post. I'm wearing a pinstripe DB suit jacket after all.

Halloween hangover | The Addams Family

Image
Gomez and Morticia Addams. Okay, just one more. I know Halloween is long over and it's Christmas that's in everyone's head right now but I just couldn't move on without posting this. A day after I sported a Voldemort Halloween costume , we had a little get-together with friends over wine. It was supposed to be a 90s theme but it turned out that My Bibe and I were the only ones excited enough to wear a costume. Anyway, instead of going all Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls we took to the movies of that decade and stumbled upon the delightful The Addams Family .

Halloween hangover | A Hogwarts Halloween

Image
A feeble attempt at recreating that 8th Harry Potter movie poster. I can't say it enough that I love Halloween and this year was probably one of the best, if not the best. First off My Bibe and I took leaps in the dressing-up department with her donning a Maleficent Halloween costume and me transforming into Voldemort . Yeah, they do make a good couple. Second, our department decided to join our HR's workplace decorating contest for the first time since it came to be 3 years ago. Interestingly, our building's 16th floor won this thing 3 friggin' years in a row. I showed my colleagues photos from last year where they went with a carnivale Halloween theme  and told them this is what we're up against. After firming up our collective decision to join, I pushed for a Hogwarts theme. We transformed our workplace into the famed witchcraft and wizardry school from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books. Or at least we tried.

Halloween hangover | When Voldemort met Maleficent

Halloween is one of my most favorite occasions and I'm personally glad that it's becoming more and more widespread each year in this part of the world. All the costumes and trick or treating were not really existent when I was a kid, so I guess I'm more than making up for that deprivation right now as an adult.  Since 2008 I've been dressing up for Halloween at the office. No, not for any party, just the office. I've had my costuming debut as The Joker , then put on much easier stuff like a devil-turned-angel and The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon Cooper . Later My Bibe would also join me in playing dress-up and so far we've done Goldilocks and the Three Bears (with our cats) and Alice in Wonderland , where she was Alice and I the White Rabbit. This year, we sort of leveled up. She was Maleficent while I was The Dark Lord. I did Voldemort to coincide with our Hogwarts-themed workplace decor. Anyway, here's us. Voldemort was instantly smitten
